About this property

Welcome to WaterColor Inn

WaterColor Inn is a high-end extended stay lodge situated directly on the beachfront at 34 Goldenrod Circle in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Set on a sprawling 499-acre resort overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, it offers guests relaxed and spacious accommodations designed for longer stays. The property features a range of amenities including free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, laundry services, and pet-friendly options, making it suitable for families and travelers seeking comfort and convenience.

The resort includes three dining venues, highlighted by Gather Kitchen + Bar, which offers a variety of meals and cocktails in a casual setting. Additional facilities include an outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, and spa services, adding to the leisure options for guests. Private beach access is available, with the nearby sparkling waters of the Gulf being a major draw for visitors, while free parking and kid-friendly services further enhance the experience.

Guest reviews frequently praise the welcoming and attentive staff, with specific mentions of excellent service at the front desk and dining areas. Many appreciate the quiet atmosphere and the genuine, family-friendly vibe that contrasts with more commercialized nearby locales. Some feedback notes strict pool access policies that affected the overall experience, indicating that while the property excels in hospitality overall, certain operational aspects could benefit from a warmer approach.

Let me tell you all something about this place….my husband and I have traveled all over the world… you come across some very accommodating people. Sometimes we came across the not so accommodating… not the most friendly or welcoming people and establishments. This place and its service provided took my husband and I by surprise! I did not expect a beautiful little quaint place such as this to be so sweet! Because sometimes the most beautiful places can be a disappointment because of the service… this place is not like that! Before you even walk in the door you’re greeted with the biggest smiles as if you are family! Randy at the front desk treats everyone as if you are his best friend! Huge plus!! Mercer served us at breakfast and at the pool! He was also super sweet to us! Breakfast food was outstanding! Great quality! Tons of flavor! It says alot for a home away from home to feel comfortable & this place does it! So much that you won’t want to leave! We have stayed in watercolor and the surrounding areas at least six times coming from Louisiana… watercolor inn was our first visit! Pretty sure we will not want to stay anywhere else in this area for our future visits!!

I’ve stayed at the WaterColor Inn twice—once with my daughter for a girls’ trip and once with my husband, both times in mid to late April. This resort has become a favorite and is one we will definitely return to. The beachy, spacious rooms with thoughtful touches like fresh-baked cookies at turn down are wonderful. The private beach access is incredible and the 30A beaches are second to none! We always make reservations with the beach service so we’re assured a pair of seats and an umbrella. We’ve never even explored the resort pools since we’re always drawn to the sparkling gulf waters, but the pools look amazing as well. The complimentary bicycles offer a fun and easy way to pop over to Seaside, which is just minutes away by bike or on foot. I recommend doing some research as to when the very busy spring break weeks are in March and early April if you want to avoid huge crowds. The 30A towns have enacted some curfews for unaccompanied teens that you’ll want to be aware of if teens are part of your family’s travel plans. (The curfews are very much needed and we were thankful they were being enforced to help slow down the rowdy teen scene that develops during high-visit times like spring break.) WaterColor Inn is a family-friendly, relaxing, charming resort that is the very best of 30A in our experience. We’ve also stayed in Rosemary Beach and found that scene to be greatly lacking in character and entirely overrun by influencers. WaterColor has a more genuine vibe and is better suited for families, in my opinion. I can’t wait to return to the WaterColor Inn in the future!

My stay at WaterColor Inn was truly wonderful. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable, and delightful. The staff overall was very kind and welcoming. Will at the front desk made my stay extra amazing by going above and beyond from entrance to exit. He offered great advice on places to visit during my bike ride, made sure I had everything I needed, and truly enhanced my overall experience. Thank you, Will! One piece of feedback I’d like to share—offered respectfully and constructively—is regarding the pool check-in staff. On my first day, I ate at the restaurant while waiting to officially check in. Afterward, I walked over to ask about the grounds, pool amenities, and accommodations since it was my first visit. Unfortunately, one of the attendants abruptly interrupted me to ask for my wristband. I explained that I hadn’t checked in yet and was simply trying to familiarize myself with the property. I felt embarrassed when she mentioned having someone escort me out until I received a wristband. That said, another staff member kindly walked me back to the front desk, explained that the property is spread out and easy to get turned around, and offered thoughtful guidance and suggestions on things to do. Her approach was warm, helpful, and much appreciated. On both day one and day two (the second day as I was preparing to leave and hoped to soak up a bit of sun), I experienced similar interactions at the pool check-in—being interrupted to ask for my bracelet before being able to ask questions. While I absolutely understand the policy, the tone felt cold and unwelcoming. Because of this, I ultimately chose not to spend time at the pools and instead went down to Camp Creek, which was amazing, and enjoyed the rest of my time on 30A there. Overall, I still give WaterColor Inn 5 stars. It is a beautiful property with many wonderful staff members. My only suggestion would be to encourage the pool check-in team to lead with a bit more kindness and courtesy, especially with first-time guests. That experience alone is the reason I didn’t spend time at the pools during my stay. I would absolutely return and recommend the resort. Thank you again for a lovely visit.

Another Fantastic visit! This was our second trip to Watercolor and the place has grown and changed and is still top notch and has even more to offer now. We were there for July 4th and had an unbelievable fireworks show we could see from our balcony. Watercolor is a large community and there are single family homes as well as the "Inn" which is a small hotel, and countless amenities and activities. The grounds are absolutely immaculate and the staff is top notch consistently. I can't say enough about the staff members. Plenty of great quality food options and we really enjoyed the complimentary snack room to grab a few snacks, coffee, etc. They have several pools and an adult pool for those traveling without kids and wanting more of an adult experience. My daughter loved Camp Water Color which is new (and not truly a "camp", kids need to be supervised, but a great addition). If I had to offer one suggestion it would be more chairs at Camp Water Color as there seemed to be plenty of space for them and all chairs were occupied. Beach area is super nice and well maintained and not overly crowded as it's a small resort. Highly recommend.

Helen at WaterColor Inn was absolutely wonderful. Even while working very early on Christmas Day, she treated me with genuine kindness and care, and her hospitality truly stood out. She went above and beyond to make the experience welcoming and memorable. WaterColor Inn is fortunate to have someone like Helen - she showed the highest quality of customer service. Thank you, Helen!

My family had the most wonderful time and experience at Watercolor Resort. Everything about our stay was top tier but especially the staff were all friendly and attentive. It was our 10 year anniversary and we were so specially taken care of by the resort. Randy, who is one of the friendly faces to greet you as you enter was just terrific. We all agreed he made our trip! He helped with recommendations, reservations, resort needs and special gifts for our anniversary, among many other things. We can’t wait to come back!!!

This hotel was really nice and had friendly staff. My favorite parts were the direct access to the beach, an outdoor restaurant, and the snack rooms! Each floor has a room with complimentary snacks and drinks.
